My Top Rated foundations to date.
Always on the search (The Hunt!!) for THE perfect base for my face, I tirelessly try different formulas. My quest has lead me to a list of foundations that make the TOP FIVE. Naturally this list is ever changing, but as of now, these are the foundations that made the cut:
1. Hourglass Vanish Stick- (Ivory)
as mentioned on my main page this foundation is small and mighty. With it's multipurpose functionality and diminutive stature it ranks number one on my top 5 list. I find this foundation to have a satin matte finish that doesn't look dry or flat but rather airbrushed and very my skin but waaaay better. I get a solid 6 hours of wear, but never worry about that because it is always in my purse for touch-ups. A home run Hourglass!
2. NARS Sheer glow (Fiji)
An old favorite...NARS sheer glow is a satin finish sheer foundation that is buildable to a solid medium coverage. As the name states, it is sheer at first application. It simply perfects your canvas in the most beautiful way. I prefer to apply this with my fingers then bounce a damp beauty blender over it to give my face a perfected veil of color. Definitely a current favorite!
3. L'Oreal Lumi Cushion (w-3)
A drugstore treasure! This foundation imparts the most creamy natural finish. Suited best for normal skin types this foundation wears for a shorter time than some of my others but is so beautiful and easy to carry for touch ups. I get a medium coverage with this foundation and when I set it with my Surratt Powder I may get an extra hour or two. If I can avoid setting it I will, it's finish is so sublime that I hate to cover/change it with powder. I love using this with a damp (well squeezed) beauty blender but the intended sponge is also perfectly doable.
4. Zelens Youth Glow in both Cream and Beige (depending on season)
This is a Niche find that I absolutely adore. Somehow Zelens imparts a glow without looking greasy or overtly shiny...all with a decent 4 hour staying power. Perfect for an evening out! I love this with the damp beauty blender. Freckles may show through but they now show through the most beautiful youthful skin. A trick that I have learned is to immediately go over the Youth Glow with Revlon Colorstay Whipped for a substantial increase in wear time. A heavenly combo of high end and high street (drugstore).
5. Kanebo Sensai Cellular Performance (natural beige)
Although this is hard to find in the states I still procure this gem of a foundation about once a year. With a bouncy, satin finish it is the perfect "my skin but better" foundation. The coverage is a solid medium and when applied with a beauty blender it looks nearly indetectable. Somehow it transforms your skin in to a "five years ago" version of itself...Always a good thing!
